McKinney Ice Hockey Club: TSHL teams, rink and how to join (2026-27)

McKinney Ice Hockey Club (MIHC) is a nonprofit high school hockey club for McKinney ISD students, and it plays in the Texas Scholastic Hockey League with 3 teams: Scholastic White, Varsity Bronze and Varsity Silver. Founded in 1996, the club calls 2026-27 both its 30th season and the TSHL's inaugural season. Where McKinney practices and plays

McKinney's club FAQ says practices take place at the Children's Health StarCenter in McKinney, which is our Children's Health StarCenter McKinney listing, and that games are scheduled at rinks throughout the DFW Metroplex. The 2026-27 season page says home teams play at the rink nearest to their school whenever possible and names StarCenter rinks, Allen Community Ice and NYTEX Sports Centre as game locations. How to join McKinney Ice Hockey Club

  1. Check eligibility. The club serves students zoned for McKinney ISD. Its season page lists McKinney High, McKinney Boyd and McKinney North, plus Imagine International Academy of North Texas, McKinney Christian Academy and Cornerstone Christian Academy, and links to its UIL eligibility policy and academic eligibility page.
  2. Register with the club. The club says registration is online through its website: mckinneyicehockey.org/register. Its season page also says participating players must register through the TSHL before league play (the league's registration page lists what is open).
  3. Ask the club. Questions go to contact@mckinneyicehockey.org or to the team manager or board representative, according to the club's FAQ. Registration windows, costs and tryout details are on the club's site, and we do not repeat prices that can change.

McKinney Ice Hockey Club and the 2026-27 season

According to the club's season page, the regular season began September 11, 2026 (42 days ago) with the league's Leveling Tournament, includes 18 regular-season games and then playoffs, and ends around March. The league's rules say no regular-season game may be scheduled after the first weekend of April. The club also lists potential optional tournaments, including the Dallas Stars Tournaments High School Showdown (Nov 27-29, 2026), with separate team fees. The club says it is again responsible for the day-to-day running of its teams in the TSHL, including ice costs, league fees, officials, coaching and team operations.

McKinney's About page lists state championships in Varsity Gold in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2025 and USA Hockey national championship appearances in 2015, 2016 and 2025. The TAHA high school page also names McKinney as the 2025 Gold Division state champion.

The club describes itself as an independent, volunteer-run organization and not a McKinney ISD athletic program, so questions about club policies, finances and operations go to the club, not to the school district or the rink.
